At Enrich Kids Pre School program is based on the Montessori philosophy. Montessori is an innovative, child-centered approach to education. It is a method and practice that fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth of children and adolescents in all areas of their development. The program aims to achieve the goal of nurturing each child’s natural desire for knowledge, understanding, and learning.
The practical life area covers daily life skills. In Montessori philosophy, independence is valued, and it’s important for children to practice daily practical skills that are useful in life outside of the classroom.
Children learn how to take care of themselves and their environment. Practicing grace and courtesy exercises of using polite words like “ please” and “thank you”.
In the sensorial area of the classroom, your child will learn to notice details like color, shape, texture, smell, sound, weight and temperature. In other words, they’ll use their five senses to learn important details about their world.
This area includes the development of mathematical concepts in a hands-on way by associating quantity with numerals and then progressing to mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It also helps in the development of concepts such as place values and fractions using montessori materials.
In the language area of the classroom, your child will begin learning about letters, phonics sounds, and reading. Language materials move from concrete to abstract objects to pictures,sandpaper letters to the movable alphabets, and tracing to writing.
The Cultural Studies area of the classroom encompasses a variety of subjects including: Geography, Science, Botany, Zoology, and Art & Music. Children get an opportunity to “travel” and explore the world from within the classroom. This fosters mutual respect towards different people and cultures. Every month children learn different elements from the plant kingdom, animal kingdom and explore science through experimentation.
